1985 release. Green spectraflame paint with yellow/black lightning tampos, a black metal base, and UH wheels. Labeled “Wind Splitter” on card and base. This is my original childhood favorite and shows signs of many happy memories yet is in surprisingly okay condition. Somewhere in a box I have a carded one I picked up later in life.
1987 release: A yellow variation with red/orange/blue “turbo” tampos, black windows, black interior, bare metal base, and small/large UH wheels. Distributed with the “Heroes on Hot Wheels” VHS tape.
1984 release: Blue spectraflame paint with white/yellow lightning tampos, tinted windows, black interior, black metal base, and UH wheels. Labeled “Wind Splitter” on card and base.
1996 release: A light green metallic flake variation with black tint windows, grey interior, front & rear detailing, and small/large 5sp wheels. Card #473 and labeled “Street Beast”. There is also a grey variant of this release.
1996 release: Two-tone silver/gray metallic flake paint with red Hot Wheels logo on the windshield. Grey painted base, clear windows, black interior, and large/small 5SP wheels. This version was card #473 and appeared as either the “Wind Spitter” and “Street Beast.” There is an was an alternate release in Aqua paint.
The initial 1983 release: Perhaps the most valuable of the lot, the original release was in red. Yellow/white/black stripe tampos bear the BMW name. It sits on Goodyear Real Riders with gray hubs under a painted metal base. A chrome engine is revealed under the rear hood.
This is supposed to be pink when warm but dark red with white lightning bold when cold. However, it appears to have settled into a sad salmon state over time. It has a bare metal base, black windows and interior, and small/large BW wheels.
This Vintage Volkswagen Microbus is white with fine detailing, pink trim, and a pink and orange checker fade. It opens to reveal its interior and motor. There are clear windows and Real Rider wheels under a black metal base.
